When we hear of farmers planning their pregnancy around crops, we know they're one in a MELON 🍉 😆🍉 Audibly laughing, Millie Bednarski of Bednarski Farms, smiled wide and shared, "We have a joke in our house—how could I have had a baby during melon season?! My husband is the 14th of August and son Ski is the 19th and melons show up in between!"
She clearly likes a busy August because melon season she said, is almost guaranteed to happen by August 15 annually. "In all the history of our family, no one had grown a melon earlier than than August. Actually, when I was pregnant with Jade I went into labor right before my husband and I were headed to the Market. So we had to call someone to pick up the melons and write down all the customer names who had preordered them so we could get them to the right people. Good thing that guy answered the phone and was willing to help us out! I've been farming for a long time and our kids learned to farm and now they're running things too, like my second son Jade here. I was born into it and I've been doing it for 70 years."
