Rick Abdo, owner of Abdo's Garden Market located in Manlius, is the keeper of all things blooming. Founded 22 years ago, Rick has been petaling flowers since 1999. "I grow it all myself. I don’t buy and resell and everything I grow will thrive in CNY. Most of my customers come back in the spring and share that their gardens are still full of all of our flowers. We grow 50-75 varieties of perennials as well as annuals.

I actually started this company by accident when I wanted to add a greenhouse to my property and it was too expensive so I opened up to customers. Our first year we sold seventy five percent of our inventory and then I build two more greenhouses and then added a mum and shrub pad. So I've been selling flowers at the Market for 22 years, but I used to run a carpet cleaning business prior to that and would connect with customers at the Market. My Grandparents also had a grocery store, Abdo's Produce, so I've been coming here since I was 8 years old."

Working 7 days a week to grow 30,000 flowers/plants yearly, he starts growing in February, in many cases beginning with seeds or cuttings. In the off season, he does about 60 dives in the Caribbean or in Skaneateles Lake.
