“My name is Jeana Johnston and I am the owner of Wax Poetic Candles. My passion for candle making started back 2 years ago when I started making them for my friends and loved ones. I would love to spend my weekends making candles in unique jars that I would find at thrift stores. I also enjoyed discovering new fragrances to add to the wax. I always felt that giving a hand made gift was something from my heart. My new found love of candle making turned into a small business 2 years later after the art of candle making was perfected. I work a full time job in a physical therapy office and work on the candle business before and after work. I sell at the CNY Regional Market on Saturdays and make candles on Sundays to restock. I love building my small business! The candles are made from 100% soy wax, with non toxic fragrance, lead free wicks and made in small batches right out of my kitchen. My favorite part of the candle is the poetry that is displayed on them. My whole life my mother has been a poet. She and I collaborate on the poetry which is displayed on the labels. It's such a special part of the business, to share poetry to our customer base The customers at the CNY Regional market love stopping at the booth because they get to ask questions about the ingredients, meet the candle maker and support a small business. Building relationships with the customers is my favorite part of selling at the market because I love how much handmade gifts bring joy to people. I enjoy providing quality candles to people because I care about their health and well being when they light a candle in their home. Come visit my booth in the C shed this holiday season on Saturdays and meet me and my boyfriend Richard. We will be offering limited edition fragrances to enjoy all season long.
