Sadie's Ginger Snaps
Jennifer Rainbow, owner of @sadiesgingersnaps, won't BARK down from her mission to provide alternative options for our furry friends 🐶
When Jen's pup Sadie passed away from cancer, she wanted to do right by her sweet girl by creating better dog treats for her pets. Initially starting as a hobby, Jen was determined to create healthier dog treat options for dogs like Sadie. She quickly discovered the high demand for such a product and after testing and retesting products, she launched her business in 2020 and started vending at the Market.
Offering all natural, dog-safe ingredients, Jen likes to keep the ingredient list as short as possible. With only a handful included in each treat, Jen leaves out preservatives, fake flavors, and fillers. Intentional curation is what customers love most about her products, especially with all of the recalls on mass produced treats over the years. She even sources products she can’t grow herself from the Market such as sweet potatoes and eggs. Offering a variety of unique treats sets her apart from others. Furry friend favorites include bacon cheddar biscuits, sweet potato biscuits, doggy cannolis, and nutter butters.
All about shopping local herself, Jen advocates for shopping at farmers markets in general. “Commercial business are all about the money, but the vendors at the market are all about the people. We’ll remember that you came and get to know you! Our furry companions are family, and I enjoy giving people a healthier option for their dogs. I look forward to treating your dog to a healthy and pawsitively delicious dog treat!! You’re supporting local, small businesses.” She also appreciates her fellow vendors as well, sharing that so far, “It has been great. All of the vendors are really cool and like to cross-promote and help each other. They’re really friendly.”
Beyond the Market, when Jen isn’t whipping up or selling treats for our fur babies, she’s working as a full-time pediatric nurse. After a full day at the hospital, she comes home to her family and then heads to the kitchen, continuing to honor Sadie and providing a healthy choice for pet owners alike.
