Happy Jack's Maple
When Jack Powers's son David was born with down syndrome, what kept him up at night most was not knowing what the future held for him as an adult.
He began to brainstorm ideas, considerings ones which David could participate in as he got older. When Jack was approached about buying a maple syrup business, he began to research the indsurty. Most ironically, he didn't even really like maple syrup, but when he tasted some from the folks closing shop, he was blown away...like nothing he'd ever tasted before.
In 2011, Happy Jacks Maple was born. While they had the maple trees, they only had about 10 months to install 3000 taps, tubing and vacuum, build a sugar barn, locate and purchase the maple equipment needed for production, and install everything. Friends and family chipped in to meet this lofty goal and in 2012 they made their first batch of syrup. Fast-forward to today and their family has grown with two more daughters and business remains busy. So busy in fact that Jack stepped down from his dream role as a police officer to focus on my family and our maple syrup business. @happyjacksmaple
