Fingerlakes Farms
Sustainable ✅ Fresh Food ✅ Human Rights ✅ Support Small Business ✅
Fortunately, the global trend in food consumption leans towards locally produced, natural food. Unfortunately, the terms local and natural, aren't always good. Just because you shop local doesn’t always mean the food is efficiently distributed. Antibiotic and hormone free doesn’t mean it’s safe to eat and invulnerable to potentially harmful bacteria. So how do you know what to buy and from whom? It can be difficult to find information about the food we eat, especially if it was produced on a small scale.
That's why Brent Maynard & Matthew Garner founded Fingerlakes Farms. They connect the farmers who care about their products, with you, the consumer who cares about what you’re eating. Meat, lamb, pork, poultry, farm fresh eggs, syrup, honey, produce, cheese & dairy. Distributing on behalf of 29 CNY farmers, all are committed to sustainability. They do the research for you so you can eat fresh and ethically.
"Our entire business started at the Market 13 years ago in March of 2007 so the @cnyregionalmarket is a very special place for us. We've made many friends over the years and many go way back with us to the very beginning. One of the most rewarding aspects of the market is seeing customers enjoy great local food. That's a wonderful part of local markets, learning about and knowing where your food comes from," shared co-founder Brent.
He started working in restaurants at 16, studied rural sociology in college, and worked on some organic farms in California, Kentucky and here in New York post-college. A decade as a produce buyer for a food service distributor provided the knowledge needed to start his own distribution company. Making a small impact on people's lives -- keeping farmers farming and providing the fruits of their labors to the community -- Brent shared, that's the reason they get up in the morning.
